SUPPORT

SYNTILL8 PROVIDES SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES UNDER CONTRACT FOR EXISTING LICENSEES OF SYNTILL8 AND MENTOR GRAPHICS 8051 PRODUCTS.

EXPERIENCE

Syntill8 has provided continuous support to Mentor Graphics and its many 8051 licensees for over twelve years and has accumulated an unrivalled knowledge base of the designs. Supported by Syntill8, integration of an 8051 core into your design will be straightforward and efficient. Syntill8 engineers can give detailed advice on, for example, memory resource selection, interfacing peripherals, clocking strategies and meeting timing requirements.

HOW IT WORKS

When you enter into a support agreement with Syntill8, you will be assigned two nominated engineers who will be available to answer your enquiries during the agreement period. Your questions will be dealt with by email or telephone conversations. Often you may be asked to provide stimulus, log or listing files to assist your support engineer in quickly resolving the issue. We aim to settle straightforward support enquiries within two working days of receiving your call.

From time to time Syntill8 will release upgrades to your licensed design, typically to improve ease of use or maintain compatibility with EDA tools as they develop. Depending on the magnitude of change required, Syntill8 will either ship to you a new release, comprising a full set of deliverables, or more typically a patch, pending the next scheduled step release. Under the standard support agreement you shall be entitled to receive all upgrades released during the term of the agreement.

If Syntill8 becomes aware of a bug or other problem with your design, we shall promptly inform you of the issue and any known workaround. This notification may occur before the patch or new release is available.

A large proportion of customer feed back concerns the delivered documentation. If we become aware of a major deficiency or error in any supplied documentation, we will upgrade the documentation immediately and send to you an advanced copy of the corrected edition, prior to formal publication in the next scheduled release. Minor documentation errors reported to us will be corrected in the next scheduled release.

HOW LONG DOES A SUPPORT AGREEMENT LAST?

Support is provided in one year units. When you take out a new licence on a Syntill8 core, a one year support agreement is included in the licence fee.

CUSTOMERS MIGRATING FROM MENTOR SUPPORT CONTRACTS

Moving from a Mentor Graphics' support contract to the equivalent Syntill8 contract is easy, and will provide you with the same high standard of service you have previously received. After all, it will be the same design and engineering team handling your calls now as did in previous years. We look forward to talking with you again.
